No. This scholarship is a workforce retraining opportunity that does not factor income level into OTI’s awarding of scholarships. We do require documentation of, and updates on, your income to satisfy reporting and regulatory requirements. This information is confidential and not shared with the public, or your peers.
No. Only applicants who work in a licensed/certified healthcare setting are eligible for this scholarship. This is a Department of Health Workforce Retraining Initiative intended to enhance the healthcare system’s workforce. If you are not employed in such a setting, you are still encouraged to apply for our program at cost.
Any facility that has an active license and/or operating certificate issued by either the New York State Department of Health, New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, New York State Office of Mental Health, New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene is eligible. Examples of settings include hospitals, outpatient/residential facilities, etc.
Your supervisor or Human Resources department would be able to help you produce a copy of this documentation for your application.
Yes, and vice versa, but only for the 4-hour SBIRT training.
Scholarships for the 12-hour SBIRT and 12 hour CBT trainings are only available to participants employed in a healthcare setting located in the Northern Metro Region. Eligible counties include: Richmond, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Delaware, Columbia.
To be eligible for a scholarship for the 4-hour SBIRT training, you must be employed at a health care facility located in either New York City or the Northern Metro/Mid Hudson.
To be eligible for a scholarship for the 12-hour SBIRT training and the 12-hour CBT training, you must be employed at a health care facility located in the Northern Metro/Mid Hudson.
The four-hour training will enable providers who are licensed or credentialed, including physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, LMSW’s, LMHC’s and CASAC’s, to bill for SBIRT services. Applicants interested in this course will be required to submit proof of licensure/credentialing.
Non-credentialed staff, including CASAC-T’s, must take the 12-hour training and work under the supervision of a licensed staff person in a licensed provider/facility in order to bill for SBIRT.
Each training for scholarship recipients will only offered once in 2019, so you you may wish to apply as soon as possible for consideration.
Each of the training sessions that have DOH scholarship-funded seats are able to receive applications electronically via Google Forms. You will be required to upload required documentation, so please review our requirements carefully.
