Cristy Dwyer, MA, CASAC, NCAC II

Cristy Dwyer serves Outreach Training Institute (OTI) as its Assistant Director, a Senior Trainer, and Lead Advisor.

Previously, Dwyer worked her way up the ranks from counselor to Clinical Director of Rehab Services for an inpatient substance abuse hospital in midtown Manhattan – a position she held for seven of her twelve years at the facility.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Policy from SUNY Empire State College and was honored as a recipient of the 2010 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. During this time, she worked part-time as a faculty educator and course designer for the Alcoholism Council of New York. Dwyer also received her Master of Arts in Social Policy from SUNY Empire State College and won the School for Graduate Studies’ Outstanding Research Award, Dean’s Medal and the SUNY Board of Trustees ACT for Excellence and Student Initiative Scholarship Award.

Dwyer volunteers as a legislative aide and New York State Coordinator for VOR, an organization that ensures the civil rights of individuals with profound intellectual and developmental disabilities. Appointed in 2012 by the Manhattan Borough President, Dwyer continues to serve as Chair of the Social Services Committee and Vice-Chairperson of the Quality of Life Committee for New York’s Manhattan Community Board 2.
