Outreach Training Institute Now Offering Online Classes for Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC)

Outreach Training Institute (OTI) has announced that it is now offering classes online for its programs that prepare individuals to become New York State Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC). It is also currently accepting applications for its next round of training programs.

Prospective students may apply online and, if qualified, will be invited to participate in online admissions interviews. The application portal, with requirements, may be accessed here.

Prospective CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) students can apply for the 350-hour CASAC Training Program which is geared towards aspiring substance abuse counselors who are expecting to enter the field or are interested in a career change.

Furthermore, OTI has a number of scholarships available to those who demonstrate a commitment to working with special populations as a CASAC, and who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships cover half (valued at $2,225) of the full CASAC tuition.

For new students, and for those already enrolled in the program, online classes in the 350-hour program are scheduled as follows:

      • Richmond Hill, Queens Program – T, W, Th:  6:30 – 9:30 pm
      • Brentwood, LI Program – M, T, W:  6:30 – 9:30 pm

The agency, Outreach, which provides treatment and training services throughout the New York metropolitan area, has announced that in-person classes will resume once state and local guidelines permit. Those classes are offered in Richmond Hill, Queens, (117-11 Myrtle Avenue), and in Brentwood, Long Island (400 Crooked Hill Road).

Outreach advises that students and applicants check the Outreach home page regularly for updates related to the novel coronavirus and COVID-19.
