Program for Master’s Level Clinicians to become Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors

Outreach Training Institute (OTI), the largest provider of CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) training in New York State, has announced new CASAC training opportunities for master’s level behavioral health clinicians. This course provides the education hours required by New York State to achieve a CASAC Trainee (CASAC-T) certification.

It will allow those with master’s degrees in the behavioral health fields, including social work and mental health, to specialize in addiction treatment. Students can obtain their CASAC credential through an abbreviated program that will significantly reduce the amount of course time at OTI.

The CASAC credential allows counselors in New York State to specialize in treating people with substance use disorders. The credential can be used to work with a broad range of clients, from adolescents to adults, and in different settings/treatment modalities.

Those eligible are master’s level behavioral health clinicians from the following disciplines: social work, mental health counseling, family therapy, creative arts therapy, and psychotherapy/psychoanalysis.

The program will take approximately two and half months to complete and is offered at Outreach’s Queens and Long Island campuses. For qualified students with an eligible Master’s degree, this opportunity translates into significant time and cost savings.
