Janet Walpole, LCSW, has been named the new program director at Outreach’s Greenpoint, Brooklyn site. Outreach opened its Greenpoint location in 2002 to serve the people and communities of North Brooklyn who are struggling with substance abuse and other behavioral health issues.

In her role, Ms. Walpole will oversee adult and adolescent outpatient services, which are offered in English, Polish, and Spanish. She will also be responsible for the operation of Greenpoint’s ReStart Academy, an intensive educational program for young people transitioning back into the public school system following residential or community substance abuse treatment.

With more than 20 years’ experience providing services to underserved populations, Ms. Walpole has worked in the behavioral health field managing a wide array of services including substance use, mental health, HIV/AIDS, primary care, and homelessness. Prior to joining Outreach in 2017, she was clinic director at an outpatient integrated behavioral health clinic.

“Janet is a terrific addition to the management staff at Outreach Greenpoint,” said Neil Sheehan, executive vice president of Outreach. “She is a dedicated non-profit executive who understands the Greenpoint dynamic and will work with the community to provide person-centered, evidence-based programming.”

Ms. Walpole earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Rutgers University. She also has a certificate in Social Work Field Instruction (SIFI).
