- Serving anyone in need of services, regardless of their ability to pay.
- Offering discounted fees to anyone who qualifies.
- Never denying services based on a person’s race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or religion
- Accepting, almost all private and public health insurance, including: Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
- No one will ever be denied access to services due to inability to pay.

Outreach Timeline
Building Healthy Lives Since 1979
- Founded in Queens, NY to support individuals with substance use disorders and strengthen families and communities.
- Pioneered evidence-based behavioral health care and professional training.
- Expanded from Queens to serve NYC and Long Island.
1970s–1980s
- 1979 — Founded in Queens to support adolescents and families through education and outreach.
- Launched New York’s first adolescent residential chemical dependency program (ages 13–18) in Ridgewood.
- Expanded to assessment, court advocacy, outpatient care, and professional training.
1990s
- Opened Outreach House II in Brentwood, expanding residential care to Long Island.
- Launched the Outreach Training Institute (OTI), including CASAC credentialing and professional development.
- Opened headquarters in Richmond Hill, Queens, bringing leadership, training, and outpatient services together.
2000s
- Expanded across NYC and Suffolk County.
- Strengthened outpatient, family, and women’s programs.
- Rebranded as “Outreach: Building Healthy Lives.”
2010s
- Named one of New York’s Best Companies to Work For.
- Expanded alternative education, women’s services, Veterans care, and workforce training.
2020s
- Transitioned outpatient services to telehealth during COVID-19 while continuing residential care.
- Expanded outpatient services into Nassau County.
- Opened a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Richmond Hill, Queens.
- Launched the agency’s first Comprehensive Opioid Treatment Program in Suffolk County.
- 2026 — Opening Downstate NY’s first Young Adult Residential Program (ages 18–25).
- 2029 — Celebrating 50 years of gold-standard care, recovery services, and professional training.
